Bane's Forum's Funeral

what happened?

Bane deleted his forum.

I don't think it deserves a funeral.

Man, what the hell...

Well, I'll try to be as nice as possible, since I don't hate any of you (except Gmen), I just think the group started becoming a bunch of "assholes." Not stating who, but there are obvious people that were noticeably testing the limits over and over and over...which was starting to really irk me (and others as I've been talking to them through pm for ranges of times that vary).

First off, I want to make it clear that the whole "You deleted Gremer's account" was not the main reason. It was just the final straw of what I will say afterwards.

Secondly, this was not a spontaneous thing. miketheratguy and I have been talking through pm. He said he was strictly done with the forum again except just to look over it and do his job as a moderator. He didn't plan on posting or communicating with any of the forum members anymore unless it was part of his duty as an admin. That irked me because he's one of the "main guys." Not only that, but he was an admin. The fact that I had people as admins that didn't feel welcome there, really pissed me off. So, the more and more he and I discussed, it got to the point where we were just literally giving our opinions on every little detail.

"Yeah, quite honestly, this isn't a home anymore. I feel like some of the members (even though it's just a few) are inmates in an asylum that got loose and think they don't have to follow rules. Even those few though ruin the whole experience."

We then started talking about how

"USER A is literally being a jerk (filtering system) in every post he makes or is purposely trying to provoke somebody."

"Well, yeah, USER B is doing the same thing"

"Come to think about it, most of the forum is like that. It kind of sucks because I really enjoy talking to a few of them, especially since we even have people that were old users and friends that wouldn't join anywhere else."

"Well, quite honestly, it's gotten to the point where there were 3 decisions I've been thinking about making;
1. Leaving the site.
2. Telling people that it's going to be more strict around here. Although, we all know if I did this, It'd just be one big rant from Wild and Co. about how I'm being ridiculous. or

Deleting the forum entirely because quite honestly, even though this isn't necessarily my forum, it's our forum as a community and a group of friends, I did make this site at the beginning and the fact that I don't feel like it's what I intended it to be (a friendly environment for us "friends" to join in on conversations), it kind of ruins the site in general, in my opinion."

mike then said that even though I've always been really good about not abusing said power and making it clear that it was a community, that in the end it really was my site, despite if I wanted to admit it.

Then it went on to mike discussing how he doesn't think I should do that, as it is my site (even though I told the dude that it was not, as once again we are a community of friends). He told me to just get rid of the users I have a problem with. In that case, I TOLD HIM I WOULD NOT GET RID OF ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PULLED A GMEN. He said it was wrong that "supposed friends" were making me feel like leaving, let alone deleting my own site. The conversation went on about how I planned on doing one of the 3 decisions if people started becoming asses or if it started to feel like anybody (I even messaged Gmen telling me to report if anybody is a Bischoff to him because I was going to change these things from happening) wasn't welcome, then I was going to take some sort of action.

The being accused of deleting Gremer (who I've quite clearly never had a problem with before) pissed me off to the point where I was like:

You know what? If I'm not welcome here, then nobody's getting access to the place because quite honestly, if it's to the point that I as the creator feel like I don't feel welcome at the forums and it's to the point that I feel like leaving, why should I give those ruining the experience the privilege to keep going? In the end, I wasn't even attacked most of the time and I still felt like it wasn't a community, but it was more so a few people that let the idea of "well, I'm not going to get in trouble, so I'm going to do what I want" get to their head and ruin the experience for many. I mean, seriously? A group of friends that apparently enjoyed talking to each other were always bashing each other. We had new users come on a few times that were literally attacked on the spot, both completely new and returning. There were rude comments that weren't needing to be made all over the place, for example"

"**** Howard." (When there was absolutely no reason to say it. It's as if he was trying to get a reaction)
"Hey look, mike decided to threaten to lock the thread for the 6th time.....this is the 1st time it's not about comics."
"mike actually decided to go through with something....for once."

There were people bashing people out of nowhere for no reason (for example, Stewie, ati, & MEF). It was to the point that I even felt bad for Gmen, who I genuinely don't like, because people would bring him into random conversations that he had no part of (not talking about jokes). I get it, joking's funny and all, but sooner or later going around referring to somebody as "Pornsox" wasn't exactly funny. I changed it back as soon as I realized that Gmen was hurt by it (he laughed at the "porn poster" thing that Raven did, so when it originally happened, I figured he'd laugh at the "Pornsox" thing that Raven did too. I was wrong and, even though I went off on the guy, had no problem changing it back for him. I did it on the spot that I got the pm asking for it to be changed back.

The place just wasn't what I originally intended it to be anymore, so therefore I decided to take it down. People were literally quick to just attack anybody, anywhere, for no reason at all. It was not fun, in my opinion. At the end, like I said at the beginning, I don't hate any of you, I just felt like the forum was no longer a forum, but as mike put it, "An asylum of inmates that escaped and decided not to abide by rules."

Once again, mike and I weren't the only ones that thought this way, I just know that mike was open on his opinion so he won't care if I talk about it.



Now, regarding the whole Gremer thing:

Like I told WrestleClown, there was absolutely no reason that I would've deleted the account. If I was worried about telling him that he was no longer going to be mod, would I have told him that he was no longer mod when he re-created the account? That would seem highly unlikely, if you ask me.

1. I never had a problem with Gremer.
2. If I were to have actually been the one to delete the account, why would I have went through the trouble of trying to figure out what happened and even go over to the 2k forums to actually message him asking him if he deleted the account.
3. Why would I have let him back so quickly?
4. Why wouldn't I have just "banned" the account instead of deleting it if I didn't want him there?

There was absolutely no reason for me to delete the account, and the fact that somebody was actually willing to quickly jump on the idea just because a very glitchy forum (as we all know) said so....yeah, it was just the final straw of "Well, if people are going to make it an unfriendly environment, then it won't be an environment an all."

But, yeah. Everybody's welcome to form an opinion. That's fine. Hate my decision all you want. I've seen plenty of your guys' hate on the forums already and that's what ultimately led to the demise of the forums. Not a petty attempt at blaming me for something that I quite honestly did not do, but the fact that the "friendly environment" was no longer that.

I thought they already took everything out of that? I wish I could say I still have the pms, but I do not have those still

I'll get Viper to turn you into a mod, we need a few anyway.

I wish I had the power to make mods,  but I don't, Viper, can you make Raven and Scott mods,  and add there posts from the FOS
